School Run
Serenity and chaos on my school run:

SCHOOL RUN
Summer awakening skies azure
breezing past unlocked school gates
sensing parents saying their goodbyes
to proper little madams and turbulent boys.
><
Cars crawling no parks anywhere
doors slamming children clambering
teachers smiling with welcoming eyes
all is organised, but yet chaotic.
><
Squeals of joy, tears of parting
friends joining hands chittering chattering
new pupils carrying their wary smiles
I absorb it all with my morning running.
><
Lollipop grannies in florescent vests
looking right, looking left, whistle at the ready
cars stop! Little people biking scooting
scrambling led across by zebra striping.
><
Paths and green grass I am pounding
ducks and swans upon the lake floating
chirpy birds flying noisy cicadas baiting
sit-a-pole cormorants wet morsels eyeing.
><
Playgrounds now abandoned and desolate,
Resenting classrooms gorging on life.
Entering my sanctuary, all is at peace.
Time for ruminating on thoughts I must write.
